How can a teenager living in Seattle help the invisible kids in Uganda?

Some weeks ago, doing a research at Starbucks’ website for our assignment of Marketing Communication, I found out a great initiative that empowers young people to launch social ventures that create positive impacts.
Youth venture is a global community of young changemakers that since 1996 encourages young people (ages 12-20) to start and lead their own organizations for the betterment of their communities. Its slogan is: Dream it, Do it.
So then, what’s the link between Youth venture and Starbucks? Starbucks, among others as Nike, Ben and Jerry’s, Burton or CNN, is one of the corporate partners of this community that helps to engage the youth, provide seed money and offer ongoing support.

In this case the idea comes from a teenager of Seattle that throws break dancing competitions with his crew, to raise money for the invisible kids of Uganda. At www.starbucks.com you can find an initiative funded by them. Once you get at the website, there are 4 videos, click on the second one and watch.
I wanted to share this video with all of you, because from my point of view, it’s great to discover that big companies support the ideas of young committed people and help them to make their ideas and projects become true. Nowadays, that the lazy chair culture has trapped a great part of the young people, this support by the companies is very important. Those who have their own ideas and want to help or even change their communities for the better, receive through them and Youth Venture the necessary funds, support and encouragement to turn the ideas into real actions.
I would like to think, that not always is all about money, even for big companies.
Dream it, Do it.
