Healthy Mc Donalds!?


Mc Donalds Corporation, which is know all over the world, has always been a very popular brand especially among children. Until recent, even the marketing was all focussed on children. “Come to Mc Donalds for good food and a good time.” was the message.

Yet, due to several investigations by several governments (with bad outcome) and documentaries such as: 'Supersize me' where a man ate at Mc Donalds Corporation every morning, afternoon and evening, causing him to gain a lot of weight and even resulting in hart problems. The image of Mc Donalds was ruined and parents did not want to let their kids eat at Mc Donalds Corporation any more.

As Mc Donalds corporation noticed a drop in customers worldwide, they decided to do the only thing possible: creating a new image. Mc Donalds corporation dramatically decreased the number of advertisements on tv and instead started sponsoring national and international sport events such as the Olympics (to show their commitment to sport).

The inside of their restaurants turned from classic 'red and yellow' to classy 'wood and black' (so you had the feeling of being in a restaurant, rather then being in a snack bar). Several salads were offered besides the regular menu and people starting to return to Mc Donalds Corporation for the 'healthy image and menu they offered'. In my opinion this is one of the smartest and biggest global marketing communication ever and even as we speak they are still improving.
