These images are not yet available in Sweden but in several different countries in Europe can you find these images. From October 2004 the EU governments to supplement the compulsory health warnings on cigarette packs with pictures. In countries such as Belgium, Spainen and Canada can you find these images.
But how do these images the sale and marketing of cigarette brands?
During the 1970s - and '80s, they became increasingly aware of the harm of smoking, and the former very obvious tobacco advertising endured intense criticism, which also sued by the popular health and frisksportsvåg. Tobacco advertising is the glorification of smoking after kritk toned down somewhat.
Up until the 2000s seemed to tobacco advertising in F1 cars, and in connection with Formula 1 races. The 2007 season is the only Ferrari's stables, which has left it. For the 2008 season, Ferrari has also removed the advertising from their cars, the agreement with Philip Morris continues, however, be valid and will expire 2011th.
Today we are aware of the effect of smoking and people are more careful. But to be honest I don't think that these pictures will stop people from smoking, ofcourse some of the smokers will quit but far away from everybody will stop smoking. The brands, such as Marlboro, Prince and Lucy Strike are all companies and brands that know that even if they have this picture on thier packages they will be able to sale thier produtcs. Smokers are adicters and it can be a hard job to smoke eve´n if the law and the society want to show the bad effects of smoking by these pictures the cigarett brands will survivor.
