An opportunity or a blow?

I only want to show you and opportunity.

This weekend Barak Obama, the US President, did an speech about the education in the Hampton University. With all the importance things that he can say, the media took the part when he say:

"And with iPods and iPads, and Xboxes and PlayStations -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. So all of this is not only putting pressure on you; it's putting new pressure on our country and on our democracy."

And he is absolutely right, and nobody can say that he have not some reason.

Ok, I want to touch two points, one of image and one of marketing.

I don't know if you can remember June of 2008. In this month the candidate Barak Obama shows to the world his iPod with music of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones or Elton John. This was a campaign act to be more closer to the people, as an humanity act. But now he is more than a simple north-american, now he is the US President, and should be critic. He did an affirmation when he said that he don't know how to use an iPod, what? Please no.
It's ok that you should criticize, but with this affirmation Obama looks like a hypocrite. No, first be honest, the universitary students use to use iPod, and Internet, and the Presidential Staff and the President sure that use it.
All the things that he said are true, but uses a tone of superiority, and he is leaving the common life. Maybe is his point?

Other point of view to this affirmation can be of Xbox (for example). I think it's a big opportunity to show to the people that their product is only an entretainment, is not a cultural way to spend your time. This can be a good opportunity to satirize their own product and show what they really want, get fun!

And now my question: Is this a good opportunity or a bad blow?
