Pro-marijuana spot running in Times Square

After initially having it rejected, marijuana-legalization group NORML has managed to get a short pro-weed video ad running on the CBS Super Screen in Times Square. Which sounds controversial, until you consider what used to be in Times Square 15 or 20 years ago. The ad—15 seconds long, with no sound—is based around NORML's assertion that legalizing the drug could raise more than $30 billion annually in new tax revenue, while saving an additional $15 billion in law-enforcement costs. CBS refused the ad last month, but had a change of heart—having discovered a newfound taste for divisive advocacy ads during the Super Bowl. The ad will run through the end of May states the AdFreak blog

It is quite funny to see how Americans are dealing with drugs in their  country. If they want to promote it, they focus more on taxes rather then the closing of the Black Market, and this is just a teaser. I think that in the future we should expect people consuming Marijuana "for helping Obama's budget" or other similar situation. While in Western Europe countries as Netherlands are promoting the idea of legal but controlled market, I think that in USA they will never legalise this light-drugs because it is in their culture to buy them on the corner of the street (watch any gang-movies and you will see that). It will be interesting to see people reaction, while they pass Times Square and see Legalize Marijuana ads (I wonder what will they imagine - joke or reality?).
