Viral marketing: subtlety or not




On Internet we can see longer advertising and more explicit than TV spots. Sometimes some brands make a buzz only on a specific country because the patterns and the reaction are different all over cultures. In this case the target is the American people, with a program of TV-buying with a star who’s trying the famous product herself. This type of program was invented by the Americans.

The sexual connotation is rooted in American advertising and it is a useful way of making people react. Parody is double because with that spot they released a second clip which was the scene of a news conference where leaders of the brand were summoned to many questions about this revolutionary product.
Even if someone tried to talk about advertising senses and connotation, the people focus about the products quality. The message behind it is that is only to make people react about the product and the senses, so you can’t destroy a product with values ​​if it is effective and desired by a portion of the population. 

I found the first spot very bad and stupid at first time but when I showed it to another person it made me laugh just as disgusted reaction of the person. Like what the process of buzz worked including myself. 
We must recognize that the association with the false press conference is clever and shows at the same time what product innovation anyway. The creative pushed the vice and the joke on a funny parody with the problems of the journalists. 

While the buzz has worked because it is tinged with humor, seeing that a question came to me immediately: Axe is known to play on sensuality and physical attraction so why they didn’t make a clip of this continuity with new stories for man and woman. Showed left or to pass explicit messages, to turn this humorously, romantic or so, the effect could be conclusive and the people could like it very well and found a link with the TV-spot. But the necessary character of a viral buzz is how can make react the people about a specific situation about a product and in this way, Axe would be more and more creative on the future…
